Russian gas flow to OMV increases, but remains under contracted level: press
Austria-based OMV said Russian gas pumped via Nord Stream and the Ukrainian transit system has increased to 60% of contracted volumes, from roughly 50% previously, Reuters reported July 5.
Gazprom previously informed OMV of the likely reductions in June. It had at that stage suggested curtailed pipe gas could be replaced with supplies from the spot market and storage centres, though the latter could derail efforts to protect Austrian grid resilience ahead of the winter demand season.
OMV's gas storage is running at 72% capacity, well above the 46% national average for Austria. The government in Vienna will later today provide a formal update on natural gas and energy security, amid fears the national objective of bringing storage to 80% capacity could be jeopardised.
