Gas Sector Helps Society with Technology Transfer, Norwegian Industry Says

Norway’s oil and gas industry is voicing the importance of its investments for other sectors and, in general, for society.

‘Innovations in the Norwegian oil and gas industry are extending the boundaries of the possible every day, creating spin-offs in space travel, medicine and renewable environmental technology,’ reads a note released on Friday. 

According to Gro Brækken, director general of the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association, technology transfers from the oil and gas sector will benefit the Scandinavian country. At the same time she called for new acreage for additional exploration and production. 

“It’s important that we don’t undermine the competitiveness of the NCS. Other petroleum provinces around the world could then become more attractive to the companies and thereby secure the best people to do this important work,” Brækken said.
