Gail to Buy Gas From Freeport LNG

State-run GAIL India is in talks to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Freeport LNG plant in the US.

Freeport LNG and Macquarie Energy are developing an export plant in Texas which is expected to export 1.4 billion cubic feet per day of gas by 2015.

GAIL expects to sign a deal with Macquarie within a month to buy two million tonne of the fuel annually for 20 years. The LNG purchase may be at prices linked to Henry Hub, a US benchmark.
