Fuling Shale Gas Field Produced 970 mcm of Gas in First Half 2015

Sinopec’s Fuling shale gas field in southwest China's Chongqing municipality produced 970 million cubic meters of gas in the first six months of this year, Xinhua Finance Agency reported Wednesday citing company statement.

Cumulative shale gas production as on June 30, 2015 from Fuling field stood at 2.214 billion cubic meters and 2.036 billion cubic meters of shale gas were marketed from the Fuling area.

Sinopec Corp. has 119 shale gas wells in production and 13 wells in trial operation, Xinhua Finance reported.

As per the company statement, output from Fuling field is expected to jump after completion of the first phase of the project. Sinopec hopes to produce 3.2 billion cubic meters of shale gas from the field in 2015.

Last year, Sinopec’s Fuling field was verified by Chinese government as country’s largest shale gas play. The Ministry of Land and Resources verified proven reserves of nearly 107 billion cubic metres (bcm) in the Fuling shale gas field.
