TotalEnergies, Technip Energies to work on LNG processes
French TotalEnergies and Technip Energies have agreed to develop low-carbon solutions for LNG production and offshore facilities to accelerate the energy transition, they said July 21. The agreement also covers the use of hydrogen in power generation; carbon capture, use or storage; and the design of new equipment.
Although gas is cleaner at the point of combustion than the diesel or coal it generally displaces, the greenhouse gas emissions along the entire value chain are problematic.

"Co-operation across the industry is needed to achieve energy transition goals. By partnering, Technip Energies and TotalEnergies rely on complementary expertise to decarbonise LNG plants and offshore facilities, supported by their leadership positions in these areas," they said. TotalEnergies has set a date of 2050 for cutting its emissions to zero, on a net basis.
It said the agreement "brings opportunities to further innovate and strengthen our expertise in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy efficiency for our LNG and offshore assets and developing innovative technologies such as hydrogen."
Technip Energies said the agreement reflected its "commitment to provide tangible and decarbonised solutions from the earliest concept to delivery and beyond.”
