The recent polls on the fears about fracking may not accurately reflect the views of the residents who would be affected

Sir, Your report (May 13 ) states that 82 per cent of residents have said they are opposed to fracking. In fact in a poll last year just 17 per cent of eligible voters voted against. This in spite of an alarmist campaign by the usual protest groups warning of volcanoes, poisoned water, cancer and reduced property values. This pleasant village also includes residents mindful of our national interests.  MORE
