This is Leicestershire: Fracking questions remain unanswered

Dr Bennett, in his First Person column of ("We just can't afford to say no to fracking", August 29) does at least acknowledge some of the environmental dangers of fracking, before concluding that we nevertheless need it, for economic reasons and to maintain energy security.

He only acknowledges some – not all – of the dangers, however, and he ignores the fact that a combination of energy conservation measures and exploitation of our plentiful resources of renewable energy could address both his economic and energy security concerns more effectively and at much less environmental cost.  MORE
