LEP: Fracking firm ups its charm offensive with campaigners

Fracking pioneers Cuadrilla began talking to a sceptical Lancashire public today with the first of two drop-in sessions for residents.

The company, currently carrying out environmental risk assessments for shale gas exploration in the county, was hosting a consultation meeting in Freckleton this evening, to be followed by one at Elswick Village Hall tomorrow.

“We’re committed to working with the community and are keen to take on board the views of local people as we continue to assess the full potential of Lancashire’s Bowland shale,” said Francis Egan, Cuadrilla’s chief executive.

“By sharing our plans for the exploratory programme, we hope that people will have an understanding of what we plan to do and why.

“The British Geological Survey last week confirmed the exciting scale of Lancashire’s gas resource and we look forward to working closely with local communities and regulators as our exploration work progresses.”  MORE
