ForUM: Ukraine agreed on cooperation with 21 foreign companies to produce hydrocarbon

For 2011 Ukraine agreed on cooperation with 21 companies on the production of hydrocarbons, particularly shale gas and coal bed methane, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko said this at a briefing for representatives of foreign media, ForUm learned from press office of the Cabinet.

"Last year we carried out significant work to attract foreign companies to hydrocarbon production in Ukraine. In February 2011 Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Understanding on gas resources from unconventional sources with the United States. Overall, during 2011 year we brought into Ukraine 21 companies to extract hydrocarbons," the Minister said.
