Five South Pars Phases to Come On Stream by September

Five phases of the South Pars gas field will come on stream by end of September, according to Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi.

The South Pars gas field is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the common border between Iran and Qatar. It is estimated that the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates. The gas production projects in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone have been divided into 28 phases. 

National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Managing Director Ahmad Qalebani announced in early June that all phases of the South Pars gas field will come on stream in the near future, Press TV reported. 

Iran is also trying to focus more on exports of natural gas as the country wants to change its revenue source from oil to gas in the near future.
