EverGen breaks ground on BC RNG expansion

EverGen Infrastructure said October 19 it had broken ground on an expansion project at its Fraser Valley Biogas operation in BC’s Lower Mainland intended to double the volume of renewable natural gas (RNG) delivered into FortisBC’s distribution network.

Fraser Valley Biogas, in operation since 2011, is the original RNG supplier to FortisBC, combining anaerobic digestion of waste from local dairy farms with biogas upgrading to produce about 80,000 GJ/year of RNG. Once the C$15mn expansion is complete, Fraser Valley Biogas will be able to produce 160,000 GJ/yr of RNG, which will also be injected into the FortisBC grid.

The expansion project consists of an additional anaerobic digestor and improvements to the existing feedstock processing system. It is expected to be completed in Q1 2023.
