Equatorial Guinea LNG Plant Clears Milestone

Equatorial Guinea's EG LNG liquefaction plant has shipped its 700th cargo since launching operations in 2007, the African Energy Chamber said in a statement on February 28.

The terminal on Bioko Island is operated by Texas-based Marathon Oil, with other shareholders including Japan's Marubeni and Mitsui, and state-owned Sonagas.

EG LNG's single train can export up to 3.7mn mt/yr of LNG. Equatorial Guinea had plans for a second, floating 2.2mn mt/yr LNG export project known as Fortuna, but this plan was abandoned.
