E.ON Ruhrgas Announces North Sea Gas Discovery
The UK unit of E.ON Ruhrgas, has announced a gas discovery on the Tolmount prospect.
The discovery is located in block 42/28d in the UK southern North Sea to the west of the E.ON-operated Babbage gas field.
The exploration well targeted the Permian Leman Sandstone Formation and encountered a gas column in excess of 200 ft (61 m). The well test flowed at a maximum stable rate of 50 MMcf/d of gas.
E.ON Ruhrgas UK E&P Ltd. operator of License P1330, and partner Dana Petroleum (E&P) Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Korea National Oil Company) each have 50% in the license.
Felix Lerch, E.ON Ruhrgas UK E&P Ltd.’s managing director, said: “The Tolmount well results are very encouraging and will be incorporated into ongoing studies to assess the optimum development strategy for this discovery.”
