Eni Spuds Well on UK Gas Prospect
Eni has spud the Rowallan exploration well 22/19c-G in the UK North Sea, its UK partner Serica Energy said December 31.
The well is targeting the high-pressure, high-temperature gas and condensate Rowallan prospect, in the east of block 22/19c in the central North Sea. The Ensco 121 heavy duty jack-up rig is being used to drill the well, close to the Monan and Mungo oil fields.
Serica, which has a 15% interest in block 22/19c, says that its own net Rowallan prospective resources are independently estimated at 20- to 60mn barrels of oil equivalent. It adds that, in the event of success, there is additional upside potential provided by the nearby Dundonald and Sundrum prospects, and that the Rowallan prospect may also extend onto Serica's recently awarded 30th UK round blocks directly to the south. Serica said it is fully carried for the exploration well, which is expected to take around 140 days to drill.
Eni operates the block, alongside two Japanese partners JX Nippon E&P and Mitsui, and Serica.
