Forbes: Gas "Super Giant" Causes Eni To Expand With Confidence In Egypt

Flush with confidence from the discovery of a reported “super giant” gas discovery earlier this year, Italy’s Eni have signaled that they will continue to expand their footprint in Egypt with more offshore blocks.

According to Cypriot media reports, the company intends to expand its exploration efforts into new offshore areas, brushing up against Cyprus’s exclusive economic zone despite unfavorable results off of Egypt’s coastline in recent years.

The difference, it would appear, is the company’s recent discovery, which holds an estimated 30 trillion cubic feet of gas, making it the biggest find in the Mediterranean and possibly transforming the entire energy landscape of the region.
