Emirates LNG to Commence Gas Imports by 2018
Emirates LNG expects to commence gas imports from its planned terminal at Fujairah in 2018, Platts quoted a senior UAE official as saying.
"In 2018, hopefully we will have Emirates LNG up and running. This will give greater flexibility for gas imports," said Musabbeh al-Kaabi, CEO of Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Petroleum.
Emirates LNG, is a joint venture between UAE state-controlled International Petroleum Investment Co. (Ipic) and Mubadala Petroleum.
Kaabi was speaking at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, according to Platts.
Once completed, Emirates LNG will commence the import of LNG from the international market and the facility will be capable of supplying 1.2 billion cubic feet/day of gas to UAE
Earlier this week UAE’s Energy Minister said the result of a tender to build the LNG terminal will be announced in late 2014 or early 2015.
