EHK to develop compressed biomethane project in Indonesia
Indonesian gas distributor Energasindo Heksa Karya (EHK) on April 25 announced a collaboration with Tripatra Engineering and Pasir Tengah (Paste) to develop compressed biomethane.
The partnership, formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on April 25, aims to produce compressed biomethane from organic waste generated by Paste's livestock operations. The proposed project, slated to be located in West Java, aims to produce between 300mm btu/d to 600mm btu/d of compressed biomethane.
The MoU encompasses a comprehensive feasibility study for biogas production, alongside the formulation of carbon credits to enhance environmental sustainability.
“The feasibility study we conducted last year in the same region has shown significant potential for biogas development. We expect to start this compressed biomethane project within the next six months and the infrastructure construction will begin in the first quarter of 2025,” CEO of EHK Agustinus Hendrayana stated.
EHK aims to establish a value chain for biomethane production and distribution, drawing upon its extensive experience in selling natural gas through gas pipelines and compressed natural gas (CNG) in Indonesia.
