EC Launches Consultation on Revision of Regulation Passed After Stress Test

The European Commission launched the consultation on the Revision of Regulation No 994/2010 concerning measures to safeguard security of gas supply. The consultation is open to stakeholders and citizens from Thursday to March 18, 2015.

‘The consultation aims to identify the areas where improvements to the Regulation are required and what the various options and their impacts are’ reads the note.  

The Regulation No 994/2010 was adopted after the stress test publication, which envisaged partial or complete disruption of gas supplies from Russia. 

‘Revising the Regulation does not mean that implementation of the existing Regulation can be suspended: the Commission will continue to push for better implementation of the provisions by assessing notified plans as well as the effects of implemented measures’ explains the press release.
