EBRD Lends $69mn for CNG-Fuelled Bus Fleet in Turkey

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has lent Ankara-based public transport provider EGO some €57.1mn ($69.2mn) to buy 254 buses that run on compressed natural gas (CNG), it said on December 10.

The new models will replace vehicles up to 20 years old that run on diesel. The EBRD's funds will also be used for building a CNG filling station.

Ankara was also confirmed as the 44th member of EBRD Green Cities, the bank's flagship urban sustainability initiative. It will be the second Turkish city to join the initiative after Izmir.
