Dutch govt announces €750mn hydrogen investment
The Dutch government announced on June 29 it would invest €750mn ($790mn) between now and 2031 in developing a national hydrogen transportation network.
National gas transmission system operator Gasunie will be tasked with developing and operating the hydrogen network, parts of which will be ready as soon as 2026, energy minister Rob Jetten said in a letter to parliament.
"The aim of our rollout plan is to have a transport network that passes through the major industrial clusters, connects them to storage facilities and connects the Netherlands with neighbouring countries," the minister said.
Gasunie is a participant in the European Hydrogen Backbone initiative, aimed at establishing a continent-wide hydrogen network over the coming years.
