Donsotank orders LNG-fuelled tankers at China’s Wuhu Shipyard
Swedish shipping company Donsotank has placed an order for two LNG-powered oil and chemical tankers at China's Wuhu Shipyard, it said on June 23. The vessels, with a capacity of 22,500 deadweight tons (dwt), are expected to be delivered in the second and fourth quarters of 2025.
Donsotank stated that these new vessels align with their commitment to provide the best possible service to their customers while minimising environmental impact. The construction and equipment of the tankers will follow the same blueprints used for Donsotank's previous vessels, Prospero and Pacifico.
The tankers will feature dual fuel propulsion (LNG-LBG/diesel). They will also be equipped with a 500 kWh battery pack, shore power connection for onshore electricity supply, SCR-Catamiser system to reduce emissions, and a waste heat recovery system to improve energy efficiency.
To ensure the safe transportation of various products, including bioproducts, biofuels, animal fats, and other commodities, the cargo tanks will be coated with a specialized coating.
