Derby Telegraph: Controversial shale gas drilling set for county
THE search for vital future energy reserves for the UK could include Derbyshire within the next five years.
A University of Derby expert says there are areas in the county where controversial "fracking" could be used to source gas.
And Dr Dorothy Satterfield said exploring for gas reserves could reach as far south as the land between Derby and Long Eaton.
She was speaking after the Government said it wants the country to be at the forefront of exploiting shale gas.
The power industry has promised towns and villages rich with the gas the chance to cash in on a pot of up to £1.1bn in compensation for fracking. MORE
