Delfin taps Wison to design FLNG vessels for Deepwater Port

Delfin Midstream said August 22 it had contracted Wison Offshore & Marine to design and engineer floating LNG (FLNG) vessels for its Deepwater Port projects in North America.

Its first project, Delfin LNG offshore Louisiana, will incorporate four FLNG vessels, each capable of producing 3.5mn tonnes/year of LNG, for a total terminal capacity of 13.3mn tonnes/year.

Delfin has secured commercial agreements for LNG sales and liquefaction services and is moving towards a final investment decision on the first two FLNG vessels.

“Wison has been visionary to develop its design, engineering, and construction capabilities for the LNG industry and in particular the floating LNG segment,” Delfin Midstream COO Wouter Pastoor said. “Sharing our commitment and entrepreneurial spirit, Wison’s goal is to continue into a full FEED later this year such that FLNG vessel construction can start at their shipyard in mid 2024.”

In addition to the Louisiana Deepwater Port project, Delfin Midstream is exploring other similar projects in North America, including Avocet LNG, which incorporates two FLNG vessels and could be developed either as a stand-alone project or as an expansion of Delfin LNG.

It is also exploring Deepwater Port opportunities in South Texas and off Mexico’s west coast.
