Cyprus, Lebanon agree to co-operate in oil & gas sector
East Mediterranean neighbours Cyprus and Lebanon have signed a memorandum on co-operation in the oil and gas sector, the Cypriot foreign ministry reported on social media on July 23.
The document was signed by Cypriot foreign minister Nicos Christodoulides and Lebanese defence minister and deputy prime minister Zeina Akar in Nicosia. The agreement creates a general framework for further co-operation between the two sides, the ministry said.

Cyprus and Lebanon signed an agreement in 2007 delimitating the border between their respective exclusive economic zones (EEZs), although Lebanon's parliament has not ratified it, partly owing to an unresolved maritime dispute between Lebanon and Israel and partly because of pressure from Turkey, which does not recognise Cyprus' EEZ.
