CPC's Tsuhuangkun Wells to Begin Production in March

Taiwan’s state-run CPC Corp. said Monday its three newly developed wells in northern Taiwan will begin producing natural gas from March, Taiwan Times reported.

Tsuhuangkun No. 145, 146 and 147, located in Miaoli County’s Gongguan Township, are expected to generate 100,000 cubic meters of natural gas per day.

The reserve will bring the company's total annual output to 850 million cubic meters.

Test runs commenced after all necessary engineering work and safety inspection were completed in December 2011, with initial production reaching 30,000 cubic meters per day. CPC expects the wells to reach peak capacity in two months.

CPC is conducting oil and natural gas exploration in seven countries, including Australia, Ecuador, Indonesia, Libya and the U.S. The company also continues to scour Taiwan and the surrounding seas for new reserves.
