Corinth Lands Trinidad Pipe Job

Corinth Pipeworks has signed an agreement with Anglo-Dutch major Shell to supply linepipe for the Colibri gas field offshore Trinidad & Tobago, the Greek company said September 3. Shell has been operator of Block 22 and North Coast Marine Area (NCMA)-4 since it bought UK utility Centrica's assets in late 2016. But most of Shell's assets in the country came with the purchase of UK producer BG in 2015.

Corinth will supply 93 km of 16-inch coated linepipe which will bring the gas to Shell's Poinsettia platform in the North Coast Marine Area (NCMA). The two blocks are held in partnership with state-owned Heritage Petroleum Company.

Corinth said the award was "another significant milestone" in its growing upstream energy business segment, as it will be the first offshore project where pipes come in ultra-long, 24-metre lengths. This means many fewer welds and hence less offhore vessel time, meaning a major saving in capex. Pipe manufacturing and coating will start in Greece later this year and installation will start next year.
