Connect LNG Wins Norwegian R&D Funding

The Research Council of Norway is funding research body Sintef Energy and pioneering LNG transfer technology firm  Connect LNG to form the FlexMarin project. The funding is provided to support further cost effective innovations in the LNG value chain and beyond, Connect LNG said April 20.

Connect LNG's floating, jettyless Universal Transfer System has already been recognised as an alternative to fixed infrastructure solutions, which it has sold to Spain's Naturgy. Connect LNG and Sintef Energy have both received funding from the same source, the Innovation Programme for Maritime Activities and Offshore Operations (Maroff), to reduce emissions in the maritime and power generation sector.

With roots in the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Connect LNG  says "the environmental impacts for quick and seamless implementation and operation are field-proven and can be applied to energy assets around the globe."

Sintef Group is a not-for-profit organisation which ploughs back the financial returns into scientific equipment, skills, and expertise. Its close collaboration with the NTNUgives it access to more than 12 000m² of laboratories, "providing an excellent platform for the joint mission."
