Condor pens production enhancement contract with Uzbekistan
Canada's Condor Energies has signed a production enhancement contract with the Uzbekistan government, aiming to boost production and recovery rates from eight conventional natural gas-condensate fields in the country, the company said on January 31.
Under the terms of the agreement, Condor, through a local subsidiary, will provide production enhancement services in collaboration with the national company, Uzbekneftegaz (UNG). The project is designed to increase Uzbekistan's domestic natural gas supply while contributing to carbon emissions reduction initiatives, Condor said.
Condor will bear all costs associated with the project and, in return for its services, will receive a percentage of net revenues generated. The fields, comprising stacked carbonate and clastic reservoirs, exhibit high annual decline rates and low recovery factors. Condor said it plans to address these challenges by introducing proven modern technologies and operating techniques.
Key strategies include the implementation of artificial lift, workover, and infill drilling programmes, as well as exploring deeper horizons in the fields. Seismic reprocessing and a 3-D seismic programme are also planned to support these efforts. The project is expected to commence operations in the first quarter of 2024, following environmental baseline audits and technical inspections.
Condor signed an initial agreement regarding the eight fields with the Uzbekistan government in May last year.
