CNPC, Chevron Begin Production from China Sour Gas Field
China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and partner Chevron have commenced production from Luojiazhai gas field in China’s Sichuan province, CNPC announced Monday.
The operating facilities are built as the first phase construction of Luojiazhai gas field, including Gunziping gas field, with an annual output capacity of 3 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas, Xinhua Finance Agency reported citing a statement published on CNPC’s website.
CNPC and Chevron signed a contract to jointly develop natural gas in Northeast Sichuan Co-op Block of Sichuan Basin in 2008. The block is spread over an area of 800 square kilometers.
Unocal, a wholly-owned unit of Chevron, is the operator of gas field, Xinhua Finance said.
