Cnooc Finds Gas in the Bohai Sea: Report
China National Offshore Oil Corporation (Cnooc), has discovered a massive natural gas reserve in the Bohai Sea off north China, China Central Television (CCTV) reported February 25.
The discovery is estimated at 100bn m3. It is the largest natural gas discovery in the Bohai Gulf Basin in the past 50 years, CCTV said.
Liu Baosheng, a project manager at the state-owned Cnooc, told the media that 11 wells have tapped oil and gas in the Bohai Sea. A twelfth well has reached 4,700 meters below the seabed.
