Chinese Wison Completes First Floating Liquefaction
Wison Offshore & Marine has successfully completed the trial of the world’s first floating gas liquefaction unit, Caribbean FLNG, at the Wison yard in Nantong, China, the company said September 27.
“The performance test was carried out in the presence of classification societies, Exmar and all the relevant parties. During the 72-hour performance test, the excellent performance of the FLNG ensured all key design requirements and production capacities were achieved for the unit’s operational effectiveness,” Wison Offshore said.
The FLNG project is being delivered by Wison under an engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract with Exmar. All systems on the FLNG vessel have been commissioned and tested without leaving the shipyard by using LNG which was then vaporised and liquefied on board, without connection to a pipeline, Wison stated, adding that conducting gas trials and performance testing in the shipyard had shortened the time required for project completion.
