China’s Xiamen Shipbuilding Delivers Two LNG-Fuelled PCTCs

China’s Xiamen Shipbuilding has delivered two deep-sea LNG powered pure car, truck carriers (PCTC) to Norway’s Siem Car Carriers, Xiamen said November 15.

The two vessels, Siem Confucius and Siem Aristotle, measure 199.9 metres in length, 30 metres in width and 14.8 metres in depth, and are able to carry 7,500 units of automobiles. The two vessels are currently the largest LNG-fuelled PCTCs globally, the company said.

Kenneth Ross, president of Sime Car Carriers, said the vessels' use of LNG as fuel would reduce emissions by 50%.

Kristiansand-headquartered Sime Car Carriers specialises in the transportation of automobiles, roll on roll off (RO-RO) and breakbulk cargo.
