China's ENN Group Eyes Canada LNG Investment

China’s ENN Group in in discussions with Canadian LNG companies to invest in proposed greenfield gas liquefaction and export facilities in British Columbia, Platts quoted company's international legal director Dong Ren as saying.

The plan is to acquire equity stake in the upstream and midstream sectors of an LNG project as well as enter into long-term offtake deals, Ren told Platts.

With setting a target for closing the deal, Ren said that talks should "bear fruit soon," with first LNG deliveries targeted for in 2016 or 2017, reported Platts.

"The LNG deal in Canada will be on a delivered basis and it will be up to the producer to supply the gas to us in China. We do not intend to charter vessels to transport LNG from Canada," she said.
