China Dec CBM Output Up Over 8%
China’s coalbed methane output in December was 0.64bn m³, up 8.5% year on year, according to latest data published by country’s statistics department. Output during January-December was 7.02bn m³, up 8.2% year on year.
Chinese explorers have ramped up production as gas demand has risen sharply this year. China's overall gas production in December touched multi-year high as demand jumped with low temperatures and the government continued to promote gas over coal in space heating, industry and power generation.
According to the Chinese statistics bureau data released January 18, the country produced 13.61bn m³ of gas last month, up over 2% year on year from 13.31bn m3 produced in December 2016. For full year 2017, China's natural gas output was 147.42bn m3, up 8.5% year on year.
