China approves $55mn gas pipe in north

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced on July 5 it had approved the construction of a gas pipeline linking the northern provinces of Shanxi and Shaanxi.

The 34-km pipeline, which is expected to cost 354mn yuan ($55mn) to develop, will carry up to 3.3bn m3/year of gas. Some 70% of its cost will be covered by bank loans and 30% by the company set to build the pipeline, Qinjin Natural Gas Co. It will connect the Ji county in Shanxi with the Yichuan county in Shaanxi.
