Chevron completes Wheatstone LNG maintenance
Chevron finished regular maintenance work at its 8.9mn mt/yr Wheatstone LNG project in Australia, the Reuters news service reported November 1.
Australia is a main LNG supplier, sending product from the Pluto, Gorgon and Wheatstone LNG facilities, as well as from Shell’s Prelude FLNG project, largely to the Asian economies. Chevron also operates the three-train Gorgan facility, which has a nameplate capacity of 15.6mn mt/yr.

Regular maintenance on the two-train Wheatstone facility in Western Australia began during the third quarter and was completed last month.
“We expect to have all five of our Australia trains operating this quarter,” Chevron’s chief financial officer Pierre Breber told Reuters.
Chevron set a record during the third quarter with $6.7bn in free cash flow. Net income of $6.1bn marked a reversal from the $207mn loss reported during Q3 2020.
The company realised an average selling price for a barrel of crude oil and natural gas liquids produced in the US of $58, compared with $31 during Q3 2020. Its average sales price in the US for natural gas was $3.25/'000 ft3, up from $0.89 during the previous year’s Q3.
Soaring commodity prices, including natural gas and LNG, have helped boost the financial performance for major energy companies during the third quarter.
