Centragas Agrees with Gazprom to Close Swiss RosUkrEnergo
Russia’s Gazprom and Austria-based Centragas Holding decided to liquidate RosUkrEnergo, a Swiss gas distribution company focused on Russian gas supplies to Ukraine and the EU.
Several reports on Russian websites and in the Swiss press said that the two companies adopted the decision on July 10.
RosUkrEnergo had been created in summer 2004 by Gazprom and Centragas on a parity basis. In the five years after its creation, RosUkrEnergo was the only importer of natural gas from Gazprom reselling it to Naftogaz Ukrainy.
Centragas Holding is a private company acting on behalf of a consortium of GDF Group. It is owned by Ukrainian businessman Dmitry Firtash (90%) and Ivan Fursin (10%).
