Canada’s Sproule launches carbon management practice
Canadian consultancy Sproule said July 15 it had launched a carbon management practice to help its clients navigate the global transition to a lower carbon economy.
Paired with its existing energy advisory practice, the carbon management practice will focus on advice regarding lower carbon solutions such as carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and strategic assessments of opportunities within the carbon economy.

“The dedicated carbon management practice will build on our extensive experience with CCUS projects over the past two decades,” said Christoffer Mylde, Sproule’s senior vice president, corporate development. “We see carbon management as a strategic opportunity for our clients, as the world’s energy system continues to evolve.”
The carbon management practice will be led by Sheldon McDonough, managing director of Sproule’s energy advisory practice, with support from Richard Hares, who joins Sproule as principal, carbon management.
Hares brings considerable experience in the carbon management space, and most recently was involved in mapping the geological storage potential of western Canada to provide insight into the CO2 storage resource required to support future low-carbon intensity projects. He has also developed global benchmarking tools for CCUS through industry research projects with the University of Calgary.
“We will develop solutions that will help our clients navigate all aspects of CCUS development, such as assessing storage capacity, modeling candidate sites, advising on commercial and regulatory drivers, and post-commissioning monitoring and assurance,” Mylde said.
Headquartered in Calgary, Sproule has offices in Denver and Bakersfield in the US, in Mexico City and in The Hague.
