Canada’s Greenlane to supply biogas upgrading to FortisBC

Vancouver-based Greenlane Renewables said December 23 it had been awarded a C$12.1mn (US$9.4mn) by BC utility FortisBC to supply biogas upgrading equipment for a new renewable natural gas (RNG) project at the Vancouver landfill.

Greenlane will supply its two-stage pressure swing adsorption (PSA) system to upgrade the landfill gas to clean, low carbon RNG for direct injection into FortisBC’s regional natural gas pipeline system.

Earlier this year, the BC government invested C$4.3mn from its CleanBC Industry Fund – alongside matching funding from the city – into an expansion of the Vancouver landfill’s gas-capture system. Over the next decade, the project will remove an estimated 485,000 mt CO2-equivalent of greenhouse gas emissions.

Order fulfillment under FortisBC’s contract with Greenlane is expected to begin immediately.
