Burisma Drilling Campaign Progresses

Cyprus-registered Burisma brought on stream three wells in eastern Ukraine in June as part of an ongoing drilling campaign.

The company drilled one well at the Karaykozivske field in the Kharkiv region to a depth of 5,240 metres. The well “exceeded expectations,” Burisma said, producing at a daily rate of 200,000 m³ of gas and 100 m³ of condensate.

Burisma sank two more boreholes at the nearby Vodyanivske field, to depths of 6,520 and 6,210 metres. “From each well at the Vodyanivske field we are expecting to get even better results,” company CEO Taras Burdeyniy said.

The operator broke ground on another well at the Vodyanivske field in February, with plans to drill 18 more boreholes by the end of this year. It has also begun upgrading a gas treatment unit at the field in order to raise its capacity from 0.5-0.6 to 3.0mn m³/day.

Burisma is controlled by Ukrainian businessman and former politician Mykola Zlochevsky. It produced 1.08bn m³ of gas last year, together with 74,000 metric tons of oil and condensate.
