Focus: Construction of Bulgaria’s South Stream section to start in July: Russian ambassador
The 135th anniversary of the victorious end of the Russo-Turkish War and Bulgaria’s Liberation is a good opportunity to analyze the whole specter of the Russian-Bulgarian relations, assess objectively what has been achieved and, what is the most important, to outline the priorities of the future, Russian ambassador to Bulgaria Yuriy Isakov said in an interview with FOCUS News Agency.
I think we have a reason to be happy. And this is the never ending and quite lively Russian-Bulgarian cultural dialog. Throughout the years, beyond the dependence of political circumstances, our cultural exchange has had a uniting role. The monument to Tsar Alexander II in the center of Sofia will be renovated for this anniversary. During the celebrations a bust of the hero from the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 who liberated Sofia, general field-marshal Yosif Gurko, will be unveiled, said the ambassador.
Economic cooperation is a priority. The Russian-Bulgarian working group for energy will hold its regular meeting to discuss all issues from the bilateral energy dialog. Depending on the results of the meeting, the agenda of the regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation will be determined, he added.
