Standart: Bulgaria to Import Gas from Europe as of 2014
The natural gas inter-connection with Serbia will support and help Bulgaria's underdeveloped northwestern region
The construction of the natural gas interconnectors with Serbia and Greece will open the gas market in Bulgaria and Bulgaria will show Europe it looks upon the issue seriously, Bulgaria's deputy minister of economy and energy, Evgenia Haritonova (R) stated
"This will become possible after the construction of the inter-connection system between Bulgaria and Serbia. The construction of the gas pipeline will be launched this year and in 2014 it is expected to start functioning. With the realization of the inter-connection system Bulgaria will have access to the gas deposits in Hungary and to European gas suppliers," Mrs Haritonova explained.
Mrs Haritonova also added that the inter-connector with Serbia would unite the gas markets of the two countries and would develop the Bulgarian one.
