Standart: Economy Minister: Let’s unite for the South Stream
As the Nabucco project was stopped, Bulgaria has to direct all efforts to the South Stream to become energy- independent in any future interstate conflict, Minister of Economy Dragomir Stoynev told lawmakers at the meeting of the economic committee of the parliament. He also urged cooperation between the government and the opposition to make the South Stream happen, Standart daily reports.
"Rich countries in Europe already have the Nord Stream, so let the poorer southern get the South Stream "said Stoynev .
So far it is not clear exactly when the construction of the pipeline on Bulgaria's territory will begin.
Bulgaria's loan from Gazprom is still being negotiated and the selection of the builders still has to be finalized, added Stoynev.
The trans-European pipeline with an underwater section going across the Black Sea is expected to start operating in December 2015, shipping up to 63 billion cubic meters of gas annually to Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Croatia, Macedonia, Greece and Turkey. MORE
