Indonesia Monday awarded new oil and gas blocks to BP, Inpex and Eni  in an efforts to expand country's oil and gas output.

The government awarded offshore West Aru I and West Aru II blocks to BP Exploration Indonesia. The West Aru I and II PSCs are located approximately 500 kilometres southwest of the BP-operated North Arafura PSC and 200 km west of the Aru island group, in the Maluku province of Indonesia.

Inpex Corp has been granted approval to acquire 100 percent of Indonesia's Babar Selaru Block which is located 60 km northwest of the Abadi gas field in the Masela Block, where the company is engaged as an operator.

Eni, through its subsidiary Eni Indonesia, has been awarded two new Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) in Indonesia.

In the West Papua Province, Eni has been awarded 100% interest in the Arguni I PSC, located onshore and offshore in the Bintuni Basin. The block is 10 km east of the Tangguh LNG processing facility.

In the offshore East Kalimantan Province, Kutei Basin, Eni, as part of a consortium including Niko Resources (North Ganal) Ltd., North Ganal Energy Ltd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Black Platinum Energy Ltd), Statoil Indonesia North Ganal AS and GDF SUEZ, has been awarded the North Ganal PSC. Eni will be the Operator.
