Block Restarts Georgian Gas Field
Block Energy has brought the WR-38Z and WR-16aZ wells back online at the West Rustavi field in Georgia, the London-listed company reported on February 8, with oil and gas now flowing into an early production facility (EPF).
At the EPF, gas is separated from oil and delivered via pipeline to Georgian gas supplier Bago, under a sales contract signed in October 2019. Block shut in the two West Rustavi wells last April, to conserve the gas until the pipeline was completed.

Commenting, CEO Paul Haywood said West Rustavi's relaunch would provide "a welcome boost" to Block's cashflow. Production is stable and at the same rate as it was before the wells were closed last year, he said.
West Rustavi holds some 608bn ft3 in gross unrisked contingent gas resources, along with 38mn barrels of oil. Block is developing several oil and gas fields near the capital, Tbilisi. It expanded its interests in Georgia in November, closing a deal to acquire licences for two blocks from US services group Schlumberger.
