Partners Invite Bids for Louisiana LNG Project

Anglo-Dutch major Shell and  partner Energy Transfer have opened the bidding process for an engineering contract for their planned Lake Charles LNG export project. The pair are seeking final commercial bids for the design, engineering construction, commissioning and start-up of the terminal in Louisiana, Energy Transfer said on December 3.

Tender packages have been issued to contractors and commercial bids for a lump sum turnkey contract for the work are expected to be received in the second quarter of 2020.

The Lake Charles project involves the conversion of an existing LNG import complex into a 16.45mn mt/yr export terminal. Shell and Energy Transfer hope to take a final investment decision next year, but recently asked US regulators for an extra five years to complete the facility, pushing its launch back to 2025.
