Bidding for 15 Indian CBM blocks to start on Feb 15
India will open bidding for 15 blocks offered under the Special Coalbed Methane (CBM) Bid Round-2021 on February 15, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), the Indian upstream regulator, said in a statement. The bidding round will close on March 15.
The round was launched in September last year. The 15 blocks are spread over the states of West Bengal, Jharkand, Chattishgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Maharashtra.

The government has so far awarded 33 blocks for extracting CBM but only a handful are operational. At present CBM is produced by state-owned ONGC and private companies Essar, Reliance and GEECL.
