BHP's H1 Gas Production Drops

Anglo-Australian multinational BHP January 21 said its natural gas production during the six months to December 31 (H1 2020) dropped 8% year on year to 189bn ft3.

The company said the drop is because of a decrease in tax barrels at Trinidad and Tobago, maintenance at North West Shelf, reduced domestic gas sales in Western Australia, and natural field decline across the portfolio. Output was down 6% quarter on quarter.

BHP said the Bass Strait West Barracouta project, offshore Victoria, is tracking to plan and is expected to achieve the first production in the 2021 calendar year.

Commenting on its Scarborough tolling heads of agreement with Woodside, BHP said the two parties are targeting finalisation of the required conditional binding agreements by the end of March 2020. In November, Woodside agreed to a tolling price with BHP for the processing of gas from their Scarborough field off northwest Australia at the Pluto LNG facility.
