Belgium's Fluxys Sees Good Results
Increases in liquefied natural gas (LNG) activities helped Fluxys of Belgium to improved turnover for 2012 so far.
Figures for January to September 2012 are €549 million, compared with €525 million in the same period in 2011, the company reported. The €24 million increase is due to a substantial increase in LNG terminalling and transmission activities.
But in a statement the company noted that it had transmitted around 10% less natural gas than in the same period in 2011 (301 TWh in 2012 compared with 333 TWh in 2011). Turnover, it said, is not affected in the short term by reduced transmission levels.
In Zeebrugge, a new jetty is being built at the LNG terminal for both loading and unloading LNG ships. Work on the underwater structure is due to finish by the end of this year, with operation of the facility to beginearly 2015.
