Beach Energy to Further Test for Shale in Cooper Basin

Beach Energy is likely to start by early April fracture stimulation operations at its Encounter-1 shale gas well in Cooper Basin, the company said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the company said that its Moonta-1 shale exploration well was drilled to a depth of 2924 metres before bad weather caused operations to be halted.

Once access is re-established and drilling resumes, it is expected that Moonta will take about 25 days to reach its planned total depth.

Moonta is 1 of at least 5 wells designed to delineate the resource potential of the shale and basin centred gas exploration volumes within the Nappamerri Trough.
